Welcome
to our Care Home Owner's page where we are pleased to offer more information
regarding the CLASSIC HOMES accreditation and membership levels, with
details of our assessment methods and procedures.
It's no
secret that Care Home Owners are currently faced with an enormous number
of challenges to secure long term profitability by maintaining optimum
occupancy, and promoting the special qualities of the smaller independent
home.
For many owners, new investment is needed to meet the legislation requirements
of the Care Standards Act, and for many others recruiting and keeping
quality staff, and sourcing adequate funding is an ongoing struggle
to maintain the desired level of service.
CLASSIC
HOMES recognises these frustrations and cares about the future of the
family run home. It is our aim to help all like minded owners who genuinely
believe in running a business "where residents come first,"
to also profit from their high standards and independence.
One thing
is for certain, to survive and profit in the future, you must:
·
Attract more clients from the private sector
· Be recognised for quality throughout
every part of your business
· Protect your capital investment
"To
be an accredited CLASSIC HOME is to be recognised as providing the highest
standards of care in a comfortable, homely and social environment."
The accreditation
is respected by leading care home organisations and has been endorsed
by the National Care Association. It can only be gained through recommendation
from our trained assessors and approved by a CLASSIC HOMES Committee,
by being judged to consistently demonstrate the provision of outstanding
care, exceeding registration standards, and by offering appropriate
services to facilitate a fulfilling lifestyle for residents (see accreditation
criteria below). Our reputation demands we will never accredit homes
which fall below our standards.
The symbol
of accreditation can be used by the care home in accordance with our
Terms and Conditions (see below), for all marketing purposes as an indication
of outstanding quality and recognition for staff.
The accreditation
is now offered to all registered care homes of all categories in the
UK which, by annual comprehensive assessment, are judged to meet required
standards as specified by CLASSIC HOMES (UK) LTD.
Subsequent
membership of CLASSIC HOMES is only offered to Independently
Owned Care Homes in the UK, which hold a current accreditation and certificate.
To apply for an on site assessment, you can either call the Classic

CLASSIC
HOMES has 5 operations
i) A
National Helpline Advisory Service (CareLine), providing confidential
advice to members of the public seeking information about care home
accommodation. Trained advisors identify individual care needs and social
requirements, offering advice on all aspects of care. Classic Homes
members may benefit from the promotion of quality care and recommendation
where appropriate of individual homes. In addition, CareLine can be
used by members for all communication and member services.
ii)
Independent Accreditation and Award, recognising superior standards
of care provision according to criteria interpreted by trained assessors,
and following an on site, successful assessment of the applying care
home. Members and staff benefit from a quality assurance programme and
recognition of achieved standards, and can use the accreditation logo
for marketing and promotion purposes.
iii) Member Services - offering CareLine registration, plaque,
certificate, use of logo, access to Members Only website information
and marketing services, access to member meetings and conferences, preferential
rates to additional consultancy services, and selected supplier discounts.
iv) Consultancy Services - a range of individual services including
marketing, supply of promotion materials, badges and folders, Quality
Assurance, customer/staff auditing, staff training, mediation, and local
PR.
v) Public Relations - representing the short and long term interests
of care home owners and industry in association with complimentary organisations.
The aim
of the Classic Homes assessment team is to evaluate, in addition to
the requirements of The Care Standards Act, many subjective values which
consistently demonstrate a superior quality of life for residents in
'homely' surroundings. Depending on the size of home, the informal but
thorough independent assessment is pre-booked and will take approximately
4-5 hours. A detailed confidential report of the assessment will be
presented to the Owners and Managers with recommendations as appropriate.
The report will cover :
Quality
of care, staff ratios, equipment and facilities
Attention to residents' comfort, accommodation, personal needs
and surroundings
Quality of life, hospitality and social well being
Food and services provided.
Staff training and professional development.
General policies and procedures
10 Principles of Service assessment.
A detailed accreditation criteria can be obtained on request, recognising
respect, privacy, choice dignity and quality time between staff and
residents.
The assessment
is an Independent Quality Audit for your business, and may be used for
promotional purposes, but where appropriate, a Quality Assurance programme
may be suggested, which if implemented can lead to a CLASSIC HOMES accreditation.
